Meta Ray-Ban might not be the explosive future being teased by bleeding-edge prototypes like the Orion glasses — Meta's lightweight, experimental pair of true AR glasses that can superimpose the digital world onto the world around you — but they're objectively a good start.

Baidu (NASDAQ:BIDU) is planning to showcase its new smart glasses with a built-in AI assistant at its annual Baidu World event in Shanghai next week, a source told Bloomberg, as it looks to compete with Meta's (NASDAQ:META) Ray-Bans.

Meta is opening an experiential pop-up store for its Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses in Los Angeles today. Called Meta Lab, the temporary store will be around until the end of the year, and it will allow customers to try out the smart glasses and customize them to their requirements.
